24th of August - My talent

It was like an International Remember-Mari-Liis? hour yesterday night. I got two text messages, one from Holland and one from Portugal both starting with "Ola Mari-Liis!", both very unexpected and too similar.

And the days go by just like before - in the mornings I make pancakes (quite often) then we are off to pool. After days of trying we were both able to swim the whole length of the pool under water. First Halit and then me because I could not not do it after he did it. He has been leaving to work at 3pm recently. So after he is gone I continue with those housewifey things mentioned beforehand. And when everything is nice and shiny I play some Mortal Kombat - the most feminine activity of all. You should have seen me the first time I tried (For ones who don't know my history with video games: there is none) Efe and Yiorgos said it sounded like someone was being raped. Later I got a bit more calm (by the time I actually checked the move-lists instead of pushing random buttons desperately) Oh and yesterday I gave Efe a pedicure (he wouldn't let me colour the nails tho) during which he was very afraid and Yiorgos couldn't stop laughing and taking pictures with his phone. And I watched 3 movies (they are like 4 pirate DVDs 10TL in the illegal shops): "Unknown" - I recommend; "The Tourist" - predictable but engaging; "No Strings Attached" - beautiful movie, some parts are really funny!

I have become quite a chef being in here. I am making stuff I never did back at home, like smashed potatoes and meatballs, which were excellent already at the first try. Unfortunately the choice in the local store is as bad as ... hm, no there is no store with such bad choice back in Estonia. One could probably cook a better meal from things bought from R-kiosk. Besides it is all ridiculously expensive here. So I am not improvising a lot, I just make the few things which I know are good. Smashed potatoes, chicken pasta, lasagne, chicken in the oven with vegetables and garlic potatoes ( Thank you Sandra for the recipe), meatballs, omelette and pancakes. And so far I have been pretty talented. And it was no pre-made lasagne, I made even that white sauce myself.
